Alita had the unfortunate problem of being a decendant of Arkor, condemning her to a solitary childhood in a dark cell. On the day of her first menstruation she was to be sacrificed by Taryn, a Theocrat toting an evil sword with a strange thirst for the blood of Arkor.
It's no wonder that after rebel forces freed her, taught her language and introduced her to the concept of sunlight, she was eager to find and destroy the sword that nearly took her life. Religion is death, and death to religion. Such was the philosophy of the Heretic Kingdoms. God was dead, slain by the GodSlayer sword, and two rivaling societies are at war over how to deal with it. One wants to destroy the sword whereas the other is more interested in resurrecting the dead god. How the game plays out depends wholly on how you decide to play it and offers 6 different endings depending on the choices you make.
Pros - As her story unfolds, it adds a sense of depth to her character. You can't help but wonder how she will react to her world with such an unfortunate start to life. The more you learn about her, the more her reactions to people and ideas makes sense.
Cons - For a supposedly serious fighter, she still sports the somewhat tiring sexy look that you see over and over again in games.
Overall - At first I didn't understand or like Alita's character until I got a little farther in the game. Once it became apparent that there was a certain complexity to her personality, I found myself becoming more interested in her story. I would have liked to see a more interesting physical side to match it.
