Overall (9.2/10): Jen has the look, movements, and attitude of a regular every-day goth woman caught in a bizarre situation. Her sexuality is refreshingly not a critical aspect of the story, nor is it capitalized on by the graphics of the game or camera shots. Men and women will like her and this game, both for the same reasons.
The Look (10/10): She has a normal-looking physique as well as a normal looking outfit. She has a goth look to her, as she is very pale but wears black eye shadow and has black hair. She is wearing black leather pants and what looks like a "pleather" top, both of them form fitting but tasteful. She eventually gains the ability to transform into 4 other forms, all of them a hybrid of human and the local denizens… and they all look really cool.
Attitude (9/10): She likes to poke fun at most situations, but becomes very serious when Lewis is involved. She plays it cool for most of the game and doesn't lose her head in stressful. Despite the sometimes dark and dreary environments you visit, the game still maintains a cheerful mood most of the time and her attitude usually fits it.
Intelligence (9/10): She can seem a little dense every once in a while, but she really does come across as your Average Jane. Jen isn't as smart as Stephen Hawking but much more intelligent than a brain-damaged Pamela Anderson/Lee (or whatever her name is these days).
Stance (10/10): Whether she is standing still, talking to another character, fighting, or moving around, Jen's stance is appropriate. When she has transformed into a warrior she'll walk with an aggressive confidence, when she is in her normal form she doesn't use her weapons like a trained knight from the middle ages. I'll add that this game has the SMOOTHEST transition from walking to running I have ever seen in an action game. Even when you move your stick forward as slowly as you possibly can, you can barely see the point when Jen has shifted into a different animation appropriate for her walking/running speed.
Voice (10/10): Jen's voice fits her character and there is rarely a conflict between the tone of voice and the intensity of the scene around her, or the incorrect emphasis on a word that another character emphasized in their dialogue.
Scripts (7/10): For the most part, the script is just fine. What everyone says to each other is always true to the character saying it, but the story line itself can be a little predictable. What was probably intended as a huge plot twist towards the end was easy to figure out from the first chapter of the story. That is really the only thing that is a black mark, but it's a big one.
Marketing Efforts Towards Women (10/10): This game was marketed purely on its merits and not sex appeal. While there was certainly no obvious effort toward empowering women in the TV or print advertisements, there didn't really need to be.Articles on WomenGamers.Com solely reflect the experiences and perspectives of the author(s).
