Maya is the lead character in the game of Septerra Core. Starting off as a junk scavenger on one of the many shells of the world, she soon finds her destiny lies beyond her shell of the world. Maya has had a hard life, losing her family at a young age has forced her to grow up fast. In a settlement mainly populated with elders and children, she has had to take on a lot of responsibility. | ![]() |
Pros - Maya knows how to take charge. She makes the decisions and speaks with authority in her voice. On the same note, she isn't a cold leader, she can show sympathy and be very caring at the same time. These two factors that make up Maya make her really appealing, because it shows that she can take on both traditionally masculine and feminine traits at the same time. She doesn't have to dump her feelings to be the decisionmaker.
Cons - This is not really a "con" but more of a request. I'd like to see her character become a bit more developed. I'd like to know a bit more about her, and be given a little more information about the kinds of relationships she maintains with people (like her brother) or the deeper details of her past. Developing the character a bit further would create a stronger tie between the gamer and the character.
The only other criticism against her is not really against her but rather the game itself. As far as the review goes, I have received several emails from people who don't agree with my point of view and believe I have been too critical of the game. I have noticed many of the other review sites have been mixed about the game as well (ranging from excellent to mediocre), so my best advice to you is to check out the demo and see for yourself. If you are really interested to know what other sites have said, you can look at the Septerra Core page on Gamezone (they link to several other review sites scores for the game and have given the game an overall rating of 6.8, which is an average score from all of their affiliates).
Overall (8.1/10) - She is a wonderful character and I would like to see more characters like Maya popping up in games. Had she could have been developed even more, I believe she would have had more of a fan following. Her attitude was there, but her details of her character were missing.
