The Talent Behind the Scenes:
1. What is your background, what job do you currently hold or are you a student, and how did you get into your current field?
Desmodus: Right now I'm a subcontracting insulator and wirer (I wire for alarms and such). I'm currently studying 3d design and modeling (and occasionally networking) on my own until I can afford to get some real schooling.
Geo: I've been on the internet for about four years. I started making my own web pages almost immediately and have been developing my skills ever since. In the "real world," more by necessity than by choice, I'm currently in a management-training position at a major retailer.
Jah: Well, I love games. Professionally I'm working on a part-time programming contract at Fountainhead Entertainment.
Jezebel: I'm currently working on my degree in visual arts. Most of my experience lies in fine art, I've been able to combine my artistic talent with my love for computers and begin working in the direction of graphic design.
Kittenin: I currently work at Compaq doing consumer technical support. I got into tech support while I was in high school because I wanted to use my knowledge of computers to help people, and I wanted to make more than other people my age working at the local grocery store. :)
KittyMoon: I work part-time for a large fuel depot processing delivery orders. I first began making maps while playing Q2, simply for railgun practice, it was easier to create my own to suit my needs then worry about waiting for map changes.
MsC: Currently a technical writer on contract to a large telecommunications company, I fell into my field through the trap door - my undergraduate work in history taught me to write well quickly, and my love of computers took it from there. The rest, as they say, is the future!
Ophelia: After attending college in Fine Arts, concentrating in painting and printmaking, I discovered the joy of computer art on my own a couple years ago. I've been a hobbyist at skinning / modeling for a couple of years. As far as actual employment, I have an office job that I got to pay the bills after the coin-op arcade I worked for went out of business. (Ironically, although it is absolutely unrelated to the game company of the same initials, the corporation is called NES.)
SuperGirl: I'm an Electrical Engineering student, but also hold a technical position at a large telecom company in the Dallas Area
Kornelia: I got into the gaming scene about four years ago when the Quake 1 test was released. I've been playing games such as Quake ever since. I recently signed a one year contract with Gamespy. (www.gamespy.com) If I had to put a title to what I do I think it would be "Pro gamer" I compete at tournaments and I promote the company I work with. I also fly to a lot of computer expos with Gamespy where anyone can challenge me to a game of Quake. (More cool stuff coming soon. :) )
