HerInteractive.com Facts:
The staff at HerInteractive.com designs, develops, and markets interactive entertainment for girls aged 11 and up. They believe that the computer and multimedia industries have neglected girls in the years between elementary school and college-the years when young boys enjoy their greatest exposure to computers as sources of entertainment. Founded in 1995, the staff consists of six women and five men. HerInteractive.com produced the first computer game designed specifically for girls: McKenzie & Co, which helped to launch the girls games movement. Following McKenzie & Co., HerInteractive.com produced The Vampire Diaries, a role-playing adventure game. In 1997, HerInteractive.com contracted with Simon & Schuster to begin developing a series of computer games based on the classic mystery series, Nancy Drew. The first title, Nancy Drew: "Secrets Can Kill" was released in November 1998. The second title, Nancy Drew: "Stay Tuned for Danger" is slated for release in Fall of 1999. The Nancy Drew series places gamers in the role of Nancy, the intrepid teen detective. Along the way, gamers must use their conflict resolution, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills as they encounter puzzles, brain teasers, and a cast of characters straight out of the classic mystery series. Secrets Can Kill has won several awards and accolades, including glowing ratings by Superkids Educational Software Review, Parents' Choice Foundation, Mothering magazine, and Good Housekeeping.
