Review: Okami (PS2)

Postby Atari on Tue Dec 12, 2006 5:12 pm

Okami receives high praise from WomenGamers.Com contributor Geek Woman who believes this sleeper hit features the most impressive female game character of the year.

Okami may be the most important game this year as an example of a failure to market to women. The game itself is designed exactly for what women gamers would enjoy. It is too bad that the publishers had no clue what they had in their hands.

Thanks game developers, the best female character I have seen in 2006 is a dog.

I'll drink to that!

Haha, sorry but that cracks me up. The female dog part.

But great review over all, I really want to play it and I think I may just buy it for my friend for Christmas.

He will like it. He will thank you.

Then he will weep tears of joy, because he will finally have a non-comedy game that allows him to lift his leg up and urinate on his enemy.

I have to say this game is the best game I've played in years Even better, in almost every way, than critically acclaimed games like Beyond Good and Evil and the Zelda games if we want to just compare in the same genre.

Done with the game. Still love the game. 30 hours of playtime, and that's without getting very sidetracked by your standard adventure genre collection stuff.

It's sad that Clover got axed, because I fear the story will not be continued and I really want to see it continued.

Love the game, hate the save point thing. I'd rather be able to save anywhere.

It starts out with about an hour of expositional story. This makes it unsuitable for most kids, and most male gamers.

Er...isn't that rather sexist?

Okami was the best game that Ive played within this last year (and thats saying a lot) Everyone was overlooking this game because of the anticipation of the PS3 and the Wii. Its quite sad really. The whole situation was just like what happened with the release of the Shadow Hearts series. (If you've not played them, pick them up. Their better than Final Fantasy) Games like this should be recieving so much more than what they actually get. I love Okami and this game should have won best game of the year, hands down.

Things are only "sexist" if they're detrimental or demeaning to women. Men have no legitimate grounds to complain about sexism since they're all guilty of the ongoing oppression of womyn.

Check your privilege!

I didn't think I was going to like it because it seemed a little bit of a platformer, but the visulas and the 100 hours plus gameplay, got me good.
