Review & Interview: Dream Day Wedding (PC)

Postby Atari on Tue Jun 26, 2007 1:49 pm

WomenGamers.Com contributor Geek Woman checks out the unusual game Dream Day Wedding and has a chat with senior producer Cara Ely.

Cara Ely: There’s something irresistible about picking out flowers, cakes, dresses…and so many different types of people can relate to the wedding process, whether they’re single, married, divorced, or planning a wedding for their son or daughter. The idea of making a wedding-themed game just “clicked.”

Ok, my initial reaction was   but when I read the article, it turns out to be a puzzle game. Still not a game I would have any interest in, but not nearly as bad.

I actually played a game like this but it was a crime mystery instead of a wedding day. It had the same sort of concept, you were given a list of things to find hidden in a bigger picture. I had a lot of fun with that one (can't remember the name, it was one of those free demo's that you can get from myway games). But I'm agreed with the shortness, there is only so much game play you can get out of this game type without either going cross-eyed or just getting bored.

The game looks a little "light" for my taste, but I can totally see getting it as a bridesmaid gift for gamer girls. It couldn't be any worse than the awful bridesmaid's gifts that you can find on The Knot or some of those other wedding clearinghouse websites.

If I were buying a game for a girl/woman, i'd rather buy her Viva Pinata.

If someone bought me Viva Pinata (or this game) because i was a girl, I might feel the urge to strangle them. (no offense November). I would much prefer someone bought me a game because it *interested me* than bought me a game just because I was a girl who liked games.

sorry, rant off now.

1) Mass Effect

I would like Guild Wars Eye of the North. Oh, wait, I'm getting that as a birthday present.... :)

Past that, hmmmm. I'm not sure that there's anything coming out I have on my "wanna get" list at the moment!

Yep, not long after it came out. Huge time suck given the opportunity. That said, not *quite* my thing. I tried to get into it, but..hmm...almost too many choices I guess of what to do in the game.

You must not have played Morrowind : game of the year edition , otherwise you would not be complaining.

Nope, didn't play Morrowind GOTY. I think part of my problem is lack of time. I would just be getting into the game when i would run out of time and have to leave it for awhile, then have a hard time getting back into it. I tend to prefer multiplayer games, preferably co-op. Could spend hours in GuildWars or WoW with friends. I'd probably spend hours in Oblivion too if it was multiplayer. :D Since my gaming time is quite limited, I usually spend it doing what I enjoy most.
