God Save the Queen from Nintendo

Postby Atari on Mon Jan 07, 2008 5:41 pm

Add Queen Elizabeth II to the growing ranks of seniors who are learning to love video games thanks to Nintendo’s popular Wii console. GamePolitics has the story. (Thanks YuffietheGreat)

It was hilarious. William was in fits of laughter. He was enormously impressed at having such a cool gran. And although she is 81, the Queen’s hand-eye co-ordination was as good as somebody half her age… [Prince William’s] only difficulty now is prising it away from the Queen’s clutches. She showed all the signs of becoming a Nintendo addict.

I wish Kids in the Hall was still together, so they could do a parody of this. They did alot of great comedy skits involving the Queen.

It's highly unusual for any member of the Royal Family to be endorsing a product like this, even in such an oblique way.
Hell, they won't even say if they watch a program like Eastenders just in case it's perceived they like it (and therefore are endorsing it) over other TV shows. Even if they do!

No doubt this'll end up with "Queen loves Nintendo, Sony to sue Royal Family for bias"

Can you make copies of Nintendo Wii games and will they still work in the console? My 3yr old son has managed to badly scratch the Nintendo Wii Sports game and I would like to copy it (and the other games we have) just to make sure that we have a a back up. Can this be done? Is it legal? Do I need to buy specific type of disc to copy them on to?

Send your disc back to Nintendo. They will replace it for a modest fee. Call their Customer Services (in the back of the manual) and ask them what you need to do.

Unless you want to play pirate games (which is what you're probably really asking about) and so you need to search the web for a console chipping or "Softmod"service. That way you can use any disc-copying program to copy your Wii discs and play them back on your original console.

Piracy is naughty, and you will go to prison after I have discovered your IP address and reported you to ELSPA!
