Tiger
Woods PGA Tour Golf
Developer: WhiteHorse
Games, $29.95
If you're a golfer and can't get to the course as often
as you'd like, this might just be the game for you.
It's sad: even on the computer, I'm not a very good
golfer - then again, there's no shame in getting beaten
by Tiger Woods, even if it's a virtual simulation of
him. Very professional look, as might be expected from
a game under EA Sports' aegis. Tiger is not the only
golfer to compete against: Brad Faxon, Peter Jacobsen,
Lee Janzen, Tom Kite, Davis Love III, Mark O'Meara and
Craig Stadler are all available adversaries. It also
offers three PGA tour courses, as well as 18 holes.
According to customer feedback, users were particularly
pleased about the fact that "It worked just like the
PC version." I'm not much of a golf fan, between watching
it and watching paint dry, it would be a toss-up, but
you don't have to be a fan to be able to tell that this
is a high quality adaptation.

Billiard
Developer: Megasoft,
$15.00
Much nicer than Pool. Much easier to use, better interface,
the whole nine yards. It's also available in color and
there are three different games to play. Really, the
only thing it's missing is a high score board. I think
the price is a little elevated, but I'd rather pay $15
for a good program than $7.95 for a mediocre one. If
I wanted a pool program for my Palm, this would be the
one I would get.

Pool
1.14
Developer: Giles
Goddard, $7.95
A simulation of 8 Ball, and not much else. This is definitely
not a novice-friendly product: nowhere are the rules
of the game explained, and only the most basic mechanics
of how to operate the interface are offered. The precision
of cue placement is difficult to control, and imprecise.
For die-hards only. The demo version of the game only
allows two full games of Single Player and standard
Two Player; after that, a maximum of 5 balls can be
played in a game. It does permit unlimited use of the
2 Player IR mode. Billiard from Megasoft is much better.
It's twice the price, but comparatively, it's worth
it.
