First Impressions

As a fan of Motocross Madness, I have to say this is a spectacular sequel. I wasn't sure that Microsoft could beat the first game, but I am very amazed at what I got to experience with this beta. A new feature that I noticed right away was the choice of the different speeds of bikes. You are able to choose from a 125, 250, or a 400 dirt bike. You have more choices as far as repairs and tweaking your bike. There is even an option to create your own specially designed bike. You will still have the great action that the original Motocross Madness had, on top of a new pro-circuit racing, and new enduro racing added. And don't worry, you get that same corny finish awards ceremony. The tracks are a perfect replica of the Pro Circuit. They even used a racer to help design all of the tracks.

Graphics

For a beta, the graphics and the realistic play of the game were fantastic. I couldn't believe the great job that the designers did on this. I have to say it is a work of art. The detail of the game is well done-- you can even see the different emblems on the shirts of the players.

Sound

The sound is phenomenal! You will most definitely want to get some good speakers to get the full effect! The designers used real recordings of dirt bikes to make their sound track as realistic as possible. What more could you ask for?

Gameplay

Gameplay is smooth, especially for the beta. The controls are easy to use.You can use a keyboard or joysticks; both are very workable. You will want to make sure to study all of the pro circuit tracks, since there is a bit of strategy that will have to be figured in. The strategy comes in by picking the right line to race. And watching to make sure you don't crash or wreck your bike. Why? Well, you will have to pay for all of your repairs and hospital bills. This will figure into your standings on the circuit races. You get points and money just like you are a pro, so you can't afford to make any mistakes.

Enjoyment

What can I say that I haven't already said? I have been playing this for two weeks straight and I can't stop. Motocross Madness 2 is a nice change of pace from your action games. You will find enough action with this game-- trust me!

Multiplayer

Being a beta, I really didn't play much of the multiplayer part of the game. I am sure that you will be able to experience the same flawless gameplay online as well as on LAN. Overall Impression Now that I have played this for the last couple of weeks, I have to say I love it! This game has a long future on my hard drive. With three different classes of bike events and stunt events I don't think I will become bored of this game. I really liked the fact that I had to work my way through the game. I had a goal to meet to get me to the next level. I have made it through the first circuit on the 125 and am looking forward to the 250 classes. I have even earned a gold bike. Yes, I think that you will find all sorts of surprises. And I can't say enough about the sound effects! This will be a must on my list when released in May 2000.

Marketing Efforts Towards Women

Racing sims to me is all in your heart and what you really like. However, Microsoft could do a better job of trying to draw the women out to the stores.
